The Houston Colt .45's were the predecessors to today's Houston Astros, a Major League Baseball team which is currently in the Central Division of Major League Baseball's National League.  The Colt .45's were founded in 1962 and operated until 1964, when they were renamed the Astros.  They conducted their spring training all three seasons in Chandler at the new Arrowhead Meadows Park on Erie Street west of Alma School Road.  Notable players who were on the team in those years when they trained in Chandler include Joe Morgan, Rusty Staub, Jimmy Wynn, Jim Ubricht, and Larry Dierker.
